Ferry Meadows in Nene Park, England

Nene Park is a large area of park land to the west of Peterborough. It is made up of six different areas where the river Nene runs through all the areas connecting them together. The area of Ferry Meadows Country Park was used for gravel extraction to build the new roads and then the gravel pits were later flooded to create the lakes of Ferry Meadows. The plan was to provide a green space for leisure and recreation. Ferry Meadows was officially opened to visitors in 1978. Nene Park Trust takes on stewardship of the park. The Trust is a registered charity with all income spent on the operation and development of the park.
