Göttinger Kiessee, Germany

The Göttinger Kiessee is a pit lake that was created by the quarrying of gravel mined from the end of the 19th century until 1955. The lake is in the city of Göttingen of about 120,000 population. The lake has about 15 ha and has a depth of 2 m and was created in 1958 by combining two formerly separated gravel pits.
